Three AI tools are commonly suggested to Catholics: Gianna, Magisterium AI, and Truthly. They are built for different jobs.
The short version
- Magisterium AI answers questions from a large collection of Church documents, with citations. It suits research into Church teaching.
- Truthly answers questions about the faith from Scripture and the Catechism, with daily truths, quizzes, and short courses.
- Gianna helps you keep a prayer life: novenas, prayer intentions, feast-day reminders, and a daily rhythm. When a question needs a person, Gianna points you to your priest and your parish.
Built for devotion
Most Catholics know what they mean to do. The difficulty is doing it: praying the novena through to day nine, remembering the friend who asked for prayers, getting to Confession before Easter. Gianna is built for that.
- Start the St Joseph novena and Gianna brings each day's prayer for nine days.
- Tell it someone asked for prayers and it keeps them on your prayer list.
- Ask for a reminder before the Immaculate Conception and it sends one.
- Turn on the evening examen and it arrives each night.
The prayers come word for word from traditional, public-domain sources. Gianna does not write or alter prayers.
Built to send you to people
Gianna is software. It does not act as a priest, a catechist, a spiritual director, or a friend, and it says so.
- In a hard personal situation, Gianna suggests speaking to a priest.
- When someone leans on it for company, Gianna says plainly that it is a program and turns them towards family, Mass, the sacraments, and their parish.
- On a parish invitation card, Gianna answers the visitor's question and then points them to a Mass, a priest, or the parish that gave them the card.
Gianna helps with the practical side of Catholic life so that more of your time goes to prayer and to the people around you. See Catholic use and safeguards.

Where Gianna's answers come from
When you do ask a question, Gianna retrieves the passage from official documents on the Holy See's website: the Catechism, the 1983 Code of Canon Law, Vatican II, papal encyclicals from Leo XIII onwards, and others. Each passage carries its source and exact URL. Feast days and readings come from a structured liturgical calendar, so they are looked up rather than recalled. If Gianna cannot find the exact source, it says so.
Price and the early-bird offer
The early-bird offer gives half price for your first year. Standard is $5 a month or $40 a year, normally $10 or $80. Pro, with voice notes and photo reading, is $10 a month or $80 a year, normally $20 or $160. One subscription covers the household, the first seven days are free, and nothing is charged during the trial. Prices checked on 17 October 2026; see gianna.chat for current terms, or start the free trial.
Magisterium AI and Truthly both offer free use. If you only want answers to questions, either may be enough.
